What Are You Lacking
Most people think that they are lacking energy or the know-how to achieve their dreams, but I can tell you right now what you are really lacking.
You are lacking focus.
You’re lacking it because you are just giving it away for free to everything and everyone.
- Your phone
- Your social media
- YouTube
- Dumb people
- Notifications
- And much, much more.
Having good focus makes it easier to figure out how and where to get the knowledge you need to start pursuing your dreams right from the start. So stop giving it away for free.
Also, what good focus gives you is the ability to enjoy more of the things that you do for your dreams — whether it’s working and building your business or doing online work for your blogs or shops.our dreams, either it is working and building your business or doing online work for your blogs or shops.
How Do Cultivate Focus And Work On Your Dopamine
It is very important on how your environment is built out and how you work. Because I constantly see how It is very important how your environment is built and how you work. Because I constantly see people who have:
- A lot of devices near them
- Notifications going off every minute
- Twitter feed running or YouTube playing in the background
- Multiple displays
You see how in this example, the environment is built to steal your focus? So get rid of all that crap.
When I started working on my environment to help me focus on my tasks, I made sure that:
- My phone is on Do Not Disturb
- I closed my other monitor
- I sat in silence
- Put my devices away
- Cleaned my desk
This kind of environment is much better and built for focus. “Why?” you may ask.
Well, 80% of information that you get is from your eyes — so get rid of all that stuff that distracts you when you look at it.
Secondly, we have a bad habit of looking at our phones when we hear notifications go off. So just mute them.
Clean your room and prime it for your work.
How I Cultivated My Focus
I already told you how I built my setup for work. But I’ll tell you how I cultivated my focus in everyday life.
I found it very annoying that every time I heard a notification, I instantly picked up my phone. To fix that, I turned on Do Not Disturb.
I also started reading more books on self-help and moved my focus toward gaining knowledge through books.
Also, if you want to get better focus, make sure to get rid of all the stuff that robs your focus.
Next time you sit at your desk and it feels too hard to focus on your work — and you’re constantly getting distracted — remember what I wrote.
How To Reset Your Dopamine Levels
Well, it is definitely a super hard thing to do if you have bad habits like:
- Doom scrolling
- Listening to music all the time
- Background videos or podcasts
- Picking your phone up to every notification
But it’s totally doable.
I will soon give you a 7-day plan on how to reset your dopamine levels, but you have to be committed to it and really lock in. Otherwise, it won’t help.
But I know you can do it.
7 Day Dopamine Detox Plan
So you made it this far into the post — congrats. That means you already pay more attention than others.
As promised, here is the plan, so get ready to lock in. I will give you 4 rules that you have to follow for the next 7 days, and you need to start today — right now.
1. 1 Hours Of Screen Time
Right now, go to your phone and add a screen time widget to your home screen. Track exactly how long you’ve been on it today — no more guessing or lying to yourself. You need the truth right in front of you.
If your work requires you to use your phone, that’s understandable. But be honest — how much of that screen time is actually productive? If possible, move your work to a desktop or laptop, where it’s easier to block distractions like social media or notifications. Find a workaround that makes focus possible.
Why does this matter?
Because once you limit your screen time, you suddenly have space — space to think, reflect, and act. You’ll finally have time to start that goal you’ve been pushing off or just sit in silence and process your thoughts. That kind of mental breathing room is powerful, and you won’t find it while scrolling through apps all day.
2. No YouTube, Podcasts, Music Or Short Formed Vids
Cut it all out — seriously. No YouTube, no podcasts, no background music, no TikToks, no YouTube Shorts, no Reels, and nothing from Snapchat or anything similar.
These things might seem harmless, or even “educational” sometimes, but in reality, they’re just constant sources of stimulation. They don’t let your brain rest. They pull your attention in a hundred directions and make real focus almost impossible.
Even music can be a trap if you’re constantly using it to avoid silence or to drown out your own thoughts. And short-form videos? They’re designed to hijack your attention span, over and over again.
You’re better off deleting them right now — yes, literally while you’re reading this. You won’t miss anything important. The world won’t end. You’ll just finally be alone with your thoughts — and that’s where change starts.
This isn’t forever. It’s a reset. A chance to step away from all the noise and distractions that keep you spinning your wheels. Trust me, the first couple days might feel weird, even boring. But stick with it. Clarity kicks in when silence has a chance to speak.
3. No Adult Films
You already know what I’m talking about — it’s time to cut that stuff out completely. Watching adult content is one of the biggest traps when it comes to dopamine addiction. It gives your brain a massive reward for doing absolutely nothing. Over time, it wires you to crave instant pleasure, weakens your discipline, and makes it harder to enjoy real connection or real progress.
If you’ve made a habit of it, going without it for a week might feel uncomfortable at first — but that discomfort is exactly the point. You’re re-teaching your brain how to function without constantly chasing the next hit of artificial pleasure. You’re learning to say “no” to cheap dopamine so you can start building long-term strength and focus.
Instead of spending time in environments that tempt you — like being alone in bed with your phone or browsing social media without purpose — change your surroundings. Go for a walk, pick up a book, or start journaling. Do anything that brings you closer to the version of yourself you want to become.
Quitting this habit isn’t about shame. It’s about reclaiming control of your mind and energy. You don’t need it. You don’t benefit from it. And the longer you go without it, the more you’ll realize how much power it was taking from you.
Start with just one week. You’ll be surprised by how much clearer and stronger you feel.
4. 10 Minutes Of Meditation
Set aside at least 10 minutes each day for meditation. Just sit in silence, close your eyes, and breathe. That’s it.
And if your focus drifts — don’t beat yourself up about it. That’s part of the process. Thoughts will come in, and distractions will pull at you. But that’s exactly why you’re doing this. If your mind were perfectly still, it wouldn’t be meditation — it would be avoidance.
The point is to train your awareness. To notice when your mind wanders and bring it back. That’s how you build focus. Just like any skill, you have to fail at it first to get good. So don’t chase a perfect session — just sit down and try.
You’ll get better every time.
Final Thoughts and Reflections
Now that you’ve got the 7-day plan in your hands, the only thing left is action.
It’s going to be hard — no doubt. Your brain will fight back. It’s used to cheap dopamine, the kind that comes easy. But you’re not looking for easy anymore. You’re here because you want more from life. And that means choosing discomfort now, so you can build something great later.
If you stick with this plan, you’ll start to notice something shift by the end of the week:
- Your thoughts will be clearer.
- You’ll feel more present during the day.
- The urge to grab your phone or scroll endlessly will get weaker.
- You’ll finally have space to think — to dream again.
And that’s the real point of this detox.
It’s not about punishing yourself. It’s not about being a monk in a cave. It’s about finally getting your focus back, so you can put it where it matters most: on yourself, your goals, your future.
What Happens After the Detox?
After the 7 days, don’t just go back to your old habits. Reflect on how you feel. Did your productivity improve? Was your mental clarity better? Did your anxiety or stress go down?
If the answer is yes, then you’ve proven to yourself that your environment and habits truly shape your energy and mindset.
From there, you can start rebuilding:
- Reintroduce only what’s useful — not what steals your focus.
- Set screen time limits that work for you.
- Keep your workspace clean and distraction-free.
- Continue to meditate or journal even after the detox ends.
And if you slip? Don’t beat yourself up. Just restart. The path forward isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress.
You’re Not Alone
Remember, you’re not the only one fighting this battle. Everyone around you is battling for focus, whether they admit it or not. The difference is: you’re doing something about it.
Stay consistent. Trust the process. This is just the beginning.
Your future self will thank you for starting today.
