Discipline is Crucial When You Need Stuff Done but You Don’t Feel Up to It

Just imagine if you could do anything you planned out for the day, or you want to achieve your dreams but you never really row towards the goal.

Yes, you might do some things that help you become who you want to be, but they are never that constant.

Hey, man, I understand that. At least you are here and you are willing to be better.

I have had constant days where I needed tasks to be done but never really got anywhere with them until I started noticing something that changed everything.

So come take this journey with me and learn:

  • What Is Discipline?
  • How To See What Holds Back Your Discipline
  • How To Boost Your Discipline With Habits
  • And a Quick Summary

Many people think, “Why do I need to know all of this?” I thought the same way, but I can promise you that the knowledge you take away from this will be valuable and save you a lot of time.

Instead of learning from your mistakes and wasting time, learn from me and others.

What is Discipline?

The point of this heading is not to give you the understanding of what it is but the way you see it.

Discipline is not just waking up early or following a schedule — it’s the quiet force that moves you when everything inside you says “stop.”

It’s about that moment you sit down to work, even when you’re tired, uninspired, or drowning in doubt.

It’s when you drag yourself forward with no applause, no motivation, just the decision to show up anyway.

I am sure you all already know that. But also, I personally view it differently and I am sure most of you will disagree with me.

My view of what discipline really is:

  • Day built on habits
  • Planning your time and your day for best efficiency
  • Visualizing your habits, tasks, and progress
  • Sticking to your plans without hesitation
  • Taking the most from losses and drawbacks

Being disciplined is knowing what is right for you and what is wrong, controlling your time, emotions, and your habits.

So respect to all who say no to a drink or a cigarette. That is also a part of being disciplined.

Day Built on Habits

What I mean by this is that you have habits that you perform every day that toss votes for the person that you want to become — like James Clear likes to say it.

It might be something super easy like:

  • Make bed
  • Stretch in the morning
  • Meditate for a bit
  • Read 2 pages from a book
  • Journal

These little habits will set you in the right direction, and being disciplined is seeing what you are missing, making habits, and sticking with them.

Planning Your Day For Discipline

It is very simple — just take a notebook and write the stuff you want to do today and do them. At the end of the day, you reflect and find the mistakes and things that held you back.

When you have found what held you back, you can get rid of them. Maybe it was your phone or radio or TV.

This will give you purpose for your day and set you into the right motion.

But the most important thing is that you repeat it every day.

Visualizing Your Habits, Tasks and Progress

This is an important part to show you that this is working, and it will give you motivation to keep going.

It might be a simple thing like a calendar or a paper where you write what you did every day. I think you get the idea.

Sticking To Your Plans Without a Hesitation

This is one of the most important factors in day trading — if you’ve ever done it, you know how crucial it is. I’ve experienced it myself. You create a strategy, define your entry and exit points, and when the moment comes, you follow through without second-guessing. That mindset changed everything for me.

I started applying it to my daily life. Whether it’s waking up early, hitting the gym, or sticking to a schedule, I don’t give myself time to hesitate.

Once the plan is made, it’s already decided. No mental debate, no delay. Hesitation opens the door to doubt, comfort, and excuses. But immediate action builds momentum, and momentum builds character.

This can be seen when you do day trading — when you are about to feel the FOMO. But it is important that you don’t give in to emotions and don’t make dumb decisions. Stick to your plan.

What is the worst that can happen with your plan? Getting experience?

Never get stuck on: “How?” or “Should I?” just fricking start man.

Taking The Most From Losses And Drawbacks

Take the most from losses.

Understand that it is never really a loss if you learned something valuable from it. Maybe you blew your day trading account, but you took a close look in the mirror and understood that you are too emotional around money.

So next time, you just won’t give a f*** what happens because you know you followed your plan and progressed. Even if you lost a little money, it is just a tool on how to get rich.

How To See What Holds Back Your Discipline

Let’s be honest — we are blind to our own mistakes if we repeat them over and over again every single day. The mistakes become our bad habits.

The worst is that people don’t even see them.

Some examples:

  • Doom scrolling
  • Smoking
  • Drinking

Yeah, the last two might be super obvious, but they are surrounded by the environment that makes people think it is totally normal.

I mean, in my local town I hear young kids talk about vapes, alcohol, and TikTok.

If you have a hard time focusing on your tasks, then find the flaw — and I bet that 90% of the time it is your phone in your pocket or on your table that sends notifications.

Teens receive more than 230 notifications on their cell phones each day: [Link here for that article].

Find that little flaw that is holding you back and remove it. If you can’t find it, then reflect more — I believe in you.

How To Boost You Discipline With Habits

I highly recommend you to read the book: Atomic Habits by James Clear. It gives a lot of insight into making habits and getting rid of bad habits.

The one thing that helped me most to get tasks done is what he calls habit stacking and habit logging (I think it was).

Habit Stacking

James Clear explains how to stack habits super clearly.

Formula:

After I do [Current habit], I will do [Next habit or task]

This is what I used to get my lazy ass out of bed and under a cold shower.

Examples:

  • After I make my bed, I will do Duolingo
  • After Duolingo, I will do 10 push-ups
  • After 10 push-ups, I will read a bit

Yeah, I think you get the idea.

Habit logging

This is what I used to visualize my daily habits. For an example, I’ll bring the cold shower again.

I made a table in my notebook and wrote out all the habits that I have and want to do every day. Crossing each habit out gives you satisfaction and the feeling of real progress.

When seeing that cold shower is next and I don’t want to leave an empty space on my notebook table, it was motivation enough to go and do it.

And a Quick Summary

Here are the most important steps you can take away from this:

  1. Understand that discipline isn’t about being perfect — it’s about doing what you planned, even when you don’t feel like it.
  2. Build daily habits that move you toward the person you want to become.
  3. Plan your day on paper and reflect every evening to identify what held you back.
  4. Visualize your progress by tracking your habits, even with something as simple as a notebook or calendar.
  5. Stick to your plans without hesitation — the moment you decide something, act on it.
  6. Learn from losses and treat every setback as feedback.
  7. Identify your distractions — most of the time it’s your phone. Remove or control them.
  8. Use habit stacking to build routines that naturally flow into each other.
  9. Log your habits daily to stay motivated and hold yourself accountable.

I hope this helped you out and gave you a little more insight on how to be better daily.

See you the next time. – NeoKalon
